Junior Bouyancy Aids for all uses
Children's buoyancy aids are reduced in size to enable a good fit. The waist and on some models the sides and shoulders can all be adjusted. These models suit general purpose use, beginners and outdoor centers and groups with their function al design and low cost.
For babies, toddlers and small children or weak swimmers a life jacket may be necessary. Lifejackets offer more buoyancy and better support for the head in the event of the wearer becoming unconcious.

General Purpose Bouyancy Aids - for all
These models suit general purpose use, beginners and outdoor centres and groups with their function al design and low cost. They will usually have some form of adjustment to enable a good fit. The waist and on some models the sides and shoulders can all be adjusted. They will generally be a simple jaceket or vest pull over style with no pockets or other features.

Competition Bouyancy Aids for Canoeing
Competition paddlers usually require the best freedom of movement in their buoyancy aids and very liitle else. These buoyancy aids are nearly always the vest style with good cut away designs and lightweight sof foam. They are generally in the mid price range.

Intermediate and Touring PFDs /all uses
A wide choice of jackets and vests are available with extra features such as pockets, cut away designs for freedom of movement, flexible adjustments, etc. Suitable for all types of canoeing from sea paddling to open canoeing to white water these are in the mid to top end price range.

Specialist White Water and Instructors
White water paddlers and instructors may need specialist rescue features incorporated into their buoyancy aids. Features include rescue harnesses, cowstails, knife pockets, whistles, storage pockets, etc.
